Robert Douglas Schneider

Mr. Robert Douglas Schneider, 77, of Sharpsburg, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at his residence.

Born August 28, 1944, in Melrose Park, IL, a son of the late Alex F. Schneider and the late Virginia M. Schneider. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mike Schneider and niece, JoElla.

Bob began his career in tool & die at Alumax Aluminum in IL.  He worked in the field in many locations including Barcelona, Spain, FL, IN, PA, and retired in 2018 from YKK in Dublin, GA.

Bob was an avid sports fan – a lifelong lover of the Cubs & Bears.  He enjoyed golf as a player and spectator, and loved attending The Players Championship in Jacksonville, FL, yearly with his friends.  He also enjoyed going to the GA/FL game and cheering on the GA Bulldogs.  A major bucket list item was attending Superbowl LIII with his grandson Gavin, watching the Pats win. Who knew you could be a Bears and Patriots fan? Bob was a meticulous lawn mower, leaf catcher, and fire starter.  To quote one of his t-shirts “He fought the lawn, and the lawn won”.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Schneider; daughters, Jodi McKee, Vicki Kelly (Kevin), Heather Cason and Bridgette Thompson (Dave); grandchildren, Charlie McKee, Timothy McKee, Nathan McKee, Steven Schneider (Roslyn), Kyle Kelly, Kalie Kelly, Gavin Carton, Isabella Cason, Sammy Cason, Chloe Thompson and Jake Thompson; great grandchildren, Christopher Schneider, Kaydence Schneider; and his twin sister, Roberta Auer.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Hillcrest Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. An additional memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date.
