Richard Kirby Obituary

Mr. Richard Maxwell Kirby, 84, of Newnan, died, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Richard was born on January 8, 1936 in Roanoke, AL, son of the late James Oliver Kirby and the late Sarah Widna Neely Kirby. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Newnan Church of Christ. Richard was trained in classical languages and had a master’s degree in English literature. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Gordon Kirby.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Hamlett Kirby; daughter, Joy Renee Kirby Gordon; son, Grant Richard Kirby; grandchildren, Sarah Neely Gordon and Jaxon Tucker Gordon.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel with Alan Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The funeral service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FuneralStaff1
