Reverend Robert Edmiston Obituary

Reverend Robert Edwin Edmiston, 82, of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at his residence.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 22, 1939. He was the first born of Irwin and Virginia Edmiston. He became a Christian as a teenager and was very active in “Youth for Christ” in his high school. He attended Bob Jones University for a short time and graduated from Covenant College. He received his Bachelor of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1965. During seminary, in 1963, he married Judith Lamplugh. After graduation, he was ordained in the Reformed Presbyterian Church Evangelical Synod and served three pastorates in Pennsylvania where he and Judy would have two children. In 1971, the family moved to Connecticut as he assumed the position of Associate and Executive Director of Christian Training, Inc. for the RPCES. When that denomination merged with the Presbyterian Church in America in 1982, Bob joined the Christian Education and Publications staff for the PCA, moving the family to Atlanta in 1985. He served as Director of Training until his retirement. Bob served His Lord and the PCA, directing and participating in hundreds of seminars on a variety of topics related to Christian Education and Discipleship. His preaching and teaching skills served him well, as he trained hundreds of people. While on the CEP staff, he also helped start Metro Atlanta Seminary and was one of the early professors. Bob’s contribution to CEP served the church and kingdom well, having discipled many leaders in the church. Bob and Judy were very active in Covenant Presbyterian Church since their move to Atlanta. Bob served as Director of Discipleship at the church for many years and served as interim pastor for a short time.

Survivors include his two siblings Paul William Edmiston and Ruth Sprague of St. Louis, Missouri as well as his daughters, Karen Sue Edmiston, and Holly Ann Melton; and three grandchildren, Madeline Ruth Melton, Adam Ross Edmiston, and Virginia Mae Melton.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 819 GA-314, Fayetteville, Georgia 30214.
