Ralph Lewis Obituary

Ralph Edgar Lewis passed away peacefully in his Rockdale County home on July 19, 2021. He was just four days shy of his 64th Birthday. Born July 23, 1957, in Bruton, Alabama, to Grady and Evelyn Lewis, Ralph was instantly set apart by his big smile and magnetic personality.

Graduating from Greenville High School, Ralph immediately followed in his father’s footsteps, enrolling in the Elevator apprenticeship program. Throughout his career, Ralph was an active member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 32 (Atlanta, Ga) and worked for several companies during his time in the field, predominantly establishing himself with Dover Elevators in the southeast region.

Ralph married two times throughout his life, Robyn (Waddell) Hardy, Harris City, GA., 1976, and Tracy Renee Redding, 1980. Traveling throughout his career, Ralph lived in many places from Florida to Texas, ultimately settling his later years of life in the surrounding suburbs of Atlanta.

Ralph was very passionate about music and was a gifted singer, a motorcycle enthusiast, and loved to be outdoors. His passion for fishing, boating, camping, and wilderness are traits he has passed on to many that have loved him throughout life.

A teacher by trait, Ralph’s most significant contribution to those around him was his vast knowledge and skillsets that he was willing to share with anyone that wanted to learn. A known reliable problem solver, where there was a job or task that no one wanted to or couldn’t do, Ralph was pinned as the man that could. He truly embodied the concept of a hard-working man with relentless drive and an unwillingness to quit for any obstacle.

Ralph is proceeded in death by his parents Grady (1988) and Evelyn (2016) Lewis. His former wife, Tracy Renee Redding (2006), son in law Ethan Lorenz (2020), Grandson, Anakin Lorenz (2016) as well as, his brothers Richard William (1969) and Harold Corneilus (Neal) (1992) Lewis and nephew, Jesse Dawson (2019).

He is survived by children, Jason and Amy Lewis (Newnan, GA.) Nick Lewis, (Chamblee, Ga) Daniel and Kristen Lewis, (Glen Burnie, MD.) Jessica Elbouab, (Frankfort, KY) Marissa Lorenz (Pineville, LA.), Grand-Children Briana Lewis, Corbin Lewis, Ava Lewis, Luke Lewis, Decklan Lewis, Trace Lewis, Zoey Sprague, Lina Elbouab, Ares Elder, Sophia Elbouab, siblings, Ramona & Billy Daniels, (Bethlehem, Ga) Eddie & Elaine Lewis (Zebulon, Ga), Margaret & Douglas Granger, (Jacksonville Beach, Fl.) and his best friend and confidant, Buddy. Coming from an abundant and blessed family, Ralph leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021, Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Billy Daniels officiating.
