It is with deep sadness we share that in the early hours of December 28, 2023, our beloved mother, Patricia Ann Nugent, passed away in Fayetteville, Georgia. Patricia was born in New Jersey on March 15, 1936. She was 87 years old. She is survived by her sister, Mary, her three sons, Brian Nugent, Patrick Nugent, and Scott Nugent, and her grandchildren Matthew, Kelly, Ryan, and Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Patrick, who passed away almost twelve years ago.
Patricia moved from her home in New Jersey to Miami, Florida in 1964 after her husband, Patrick, transferred there to work at the Miami International Airport for Pan American Airways, where they raised their three sons in Hialeah, Florida, a suburb of Miami. Patricia was a devoted and loving mother and wife, who loved sports, and in particular watching her sons play sports. She never missed a game. She also loved to bowl, which she did into her sixties. After her oldest sons were in high school, she went to work for Easter Seals of Miami and took great pride in her work there and the work of that organization. She loved her Miami Dolphins and later, after they moved to Senoia, Georgia in 1996, the Atlanta Braves.
She was also an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sharpsburg, Georgia, where she served as a Eucharist lay minister with her sister Mary. She was always there for her family and remained devoted to family throughout her life.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sharpsburg.
