Pastor Richard “Ted” Clay, 73, of Newnan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 14, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with Covid-19.
Born March 5, 1947 in Greenville, he was a son of the late Eddie B. Clay and the late Sara Massengale Clay. Richard had preached the Gospel for over 55 years and was the founder and pastor of Miracle Tabernacle Family Worship Center for 40 years. He loved spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and never met a stranger. He had the biggest smile that would light up the room and loved telling jokes and making people smile. Richard loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved eating, cutting grass, and traveling to Florida and Pigeon Forge. Since 1968, Richard has been an integral part of the staff of Hillcrest Chapel and has ministered to countless grieving families over the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Clay and Jerry Clay, and sisters, Frances Henry, Juanita Hargrove, and Barbara Fields.
Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Pauline Meacham Clay; daughters, Kimberly Clay Ramcharan (Naren), and Teri Clay Rosser (John); sisters, Patsy Clay Addison, and Judy Clay Nichols; grandchildren, Logan Ramcharan, Abygale Ramcharan, Gabriel Ramcharan, Chloe Mortley, Camryn Migawa, Caitlyn Rosser, Camille Rosser, Carmen Rosser, Caylie Rosser, Slade Rosser, John Rosser, Jr., and Kaden Rosser; great-granddaughter, Josie Migawa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Miracle Tabernacle Family Worship Center with Pastor Terry Calhoun, Pastor Alan Waldrop, and Pastor Bryan Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Out of concern for the safety of our family and friends, masks will be required, and all social distancing protocols will be maintained.
