Myrtle (Whitlock) Jackson

Myrtle Whitlock Jackson, 92, of Newnan, Georgia passed away comfortably in her home Tuesday morning March 3, 2020.

She was born October 19, 1927 to Edward Davis Whitlock and Winnie Williams Whitlock. Ms. Jackson is survived by her son Joe B. Jackson Jr. (Nancy) of Newnan, grandchildren Matthew Jackson, New York, New York, Hayley (David) Tubb, Dallas, Texas, and sister-in law Elva Whitlock, Newnan. Also surviving are multiple nieces and nephews.

Ms. Jackson was a graduate of Newnan High School and attended Emory University where she graduated from the School of Nursing in 1948. She worked for Newnan Hospital, was the Director of Nursing for Coweta General Hospital, and was a corporate nurse for PPG Industries, retiring at the age of 70. Ms. Jackson held various offices with the Georgia Association of Occupational Nurses, including President, and was named Nurse of the Year in 1983.

Along with her parents, Ms. Jackson was predeceased by her siblings, Vernar Whitlock, Lucille W. Brown (Harvey), Paul Whitlock (Louise), Kate W. Logan (Joe), Edna W. Rooks (Harvey), Ed Whitlock (Martha), Dennis Whitlock, Wendell Whitlock, Buford Whitlock, and Adel W. Miller (Carl).

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 in Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Patterson and Dr. Gene Tyre officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
