Miles Wilson Obituary

Mr. Miles, M. Wilson, 90, of Toomsboro, formerly of Newnan, widower of the late Shelby Jean Cagle Wilson, died Monday, October 24, 2022, at PruittHealth – Toomsboro.

On May 11, 1932, in a small cabin in Haleyville, Alabama, Miles M Wilson came into this world. We shall leave the middle initial M as Miles truly despised his middle name and went to great lengths to keep it secret. He was the first child born to Pernie Cagle Wilson and Mark Wilson. He lost his father at an early age and his stepfather also passed while he was still a boy. His early life wasn't easy, and those tough times would shape him into the man he was to become. Miles was no stranger to hard work. Even as a boy he picked wild blackberries to sell for extra money. He worked delivering groceries even before he was old enough to have a driver’s license. He loved sports of all types, but Alabama football held a special place in his heart. In high school he played basketball and wrote about the high school sports teams for the local paper. At the time, he thought perhaps a career in journalism was going to be his path, but the cost of college was too big a hurdle for him to leap, so after high school he went into construction. Specifically installing acoustical ceilings. This would become his profession. He would say all of his life, "I'm a ceiling man". When the Korean War called, he served proudly in the Army and left the military with the rank of Sergeant. It was during this time he met his future wife, Shelby Jean Cagle. They were married for 59 years. They were blessed with three children, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was a man who loved to joke and laugh. Poking fun and making light of any circumstance. He often said, "you might as well laugh, cause crying won't help". His life had hardship, but also great joy. He was proud of both. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pernie Cagle Wilson and Mark Wilson, his brother and sister, Gene Wilson and Jeanette Wilson, his wife Shelby Jean Cagle Wilson and his daughter Pamela Renee Wilson.

He is survived by his two sons, John Marcus Wilson (Terri Coston Wilson), and Scott Miles Wilson (Kesha Jones Wilson); his grandchildren, Emily Rebecca Wilson Yox, Cassidy Lee Wilson, and Wyatt Scott Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Jayson Nicholas Fryzel, Jaycob Alexander Fryzel, and Katelyn Eliana Fryzel.
