Mr. Michael “Mike” Andrew De Lisle, 71, of Fayetteville, passed away, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in his home.
Born January 18, 1952, in Washington, D. C., he was the eldest son of the late Andrew John De Lisle and the late Beverly Dignam De Lisle. Michael retired as a Major from United States Army after twenty years of service. He then served the community twenty plus years as a teacher, most of which at McIntosh High School in Fayette County. He was an involved member of his church family at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Mike was a dedicated environmentalist, working to preserve local watersheds, and an active member of his community.
Survivors include his daughters, Nicole De Lisle and Eve McGurl (Michael); grandson, Daniel McGurl; sisters, Peggy Kelly, Marianne Hall (Jeff) and Holly Young; brothers, Pete De Lisle (Pam) and Tom De Lisle; granddogs, Tigerlily and Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Fayette First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, with full military honors. A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the funeral home.
