Margery Nell (Guest) Smith

Mrs. Margery Nell Smith, 72, of Newnan, widow of the late Riley D. Smith, died Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Margery Nell Smith “Sue or Susie" was born to the late Lila Gilpin and Kermit Spradlin Sr. in Atlanta, GA on November 10, 1949. She was retired from BellSouth which is now considered AT&T where she gave many years of service. Margery was a Christian woman that was very active in her home church Macedonia Baptist Church, dedicated a lot of her time to family, and many friends. If you truly knew her, you got the opportunity to enjoy one of her many stories and hear her express the love she had for her family. Margery was preceded in death by her husband Riley Smith, both parents Lila Gilpin and Kermit Spradlin Sr., brother Rickey Gilpin, three sisters: Shirley Anderson, Jerri Adams, and Louise Smith.

Survivors include her daughters, Melissa and Triesa Hulsey; siblings, Bruce Gilpin (Connie), Matt Gilpin (Tammy), Janie Walker (Chuck), Robbie Gilpin, Jean Evans, Sue Ragland, and Kermit Spradlin (Denise). Margery also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Lauren Hulsey, Linsey Harris, Brendon Gammons, Nathaniel Wallace, Morgan Gammons, Kevin Bishop, and Savannah McAteer. Great grandchildren, Makayla Hulsey, Brandon (B)) Harris, Kelsey Harris, Kailey Harris, Nathan Gammons, Kanaya Bishop, Janiyah Bishop, Katelyn Bishop, and Allyson Morris. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Hillcrest Chapel. Graveside funeral service, for family, will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests, that those who wish, may make memorial donations to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1504 Macedonia Road, Newnan, GA 30263, in memory of Margery Smith.
