Junisus Reynolds Obituary

Mr. Junisus (Jim) M. Reynolds, age 86, of Newnan, GA passed away from complications of heart valve failure on December 31, 2020.

Jim was born in Douglas County, GA October 31, 1934. He spent his early life in Douglas and South Fulton Counties.  He attended Campbell High School in Fairburn, GA.  After high school, Jim entered the US Army where he spent 5 years including a tour in Korea.  He was a Korean War Veteran.  He married Augustine Hamilton.  They had 2 children, Angela and Scott. They later divorced.  Jim married Shirley Betsill and was married to her for almost 6 years.  After the Army, Jim was employed as a truck driver with several freight carriers in the Atlanta area: including TransCon and Roadway.  He was a member of Teamsters Local 728. He was a job steward at Roadway and very active with the Teamsters Union.   In his later career, he became an Assistant Business Agent/Mediator for Teamsters Local 528.  He retired in 2002 as the Vice President/Business Agent for Local 528. After retirement, he decided to take music lessons to improve his guitar skills and learn to play the banjo.  To hone these skills, he became very active with the Cedar Grove Music Group in South Fulton County.  He loved going to events and playing music at the Hollonville Opry House until it closed in the last couple of years.  Another place he loved to go was the Williamson Music Barn.  He played with The Wranglers and a couple of other music groups.  He really loved his music life and all the friends he made through all his music connections.  One of his favorite things was to be MC for various music events.  A huge highlight for him was to be inducted in the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in November 2017.  He was a member of the Hapeville Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. No. 590 for close to 50 years as well as a member of the Griffin Moose Lodge.
