Jo Anne (Hubbard) Barnes

Mrs. Jo Anne Hubbard Barnes, 86, of Newnan, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Insignia of Newnan. 

Born November 10, 1933 in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late Clint “Pop” Hubbard and the late Dorothy Shadinger Hubbard.  In 1957, she married the love of her life, Charlie.  JoAnne and Charlie had an inspiring marriage full of travel, fun times, mutual adoration, and commitment.  Known lovingly as "Aunt Jan" to her nieces and nephews, she will be remembered for her signature laugh, love of travel, shopping, and the guaranteed "Hey, Hun!" with a hug and pat on the back.  Aunt Jan delighted in her role as a second mother, grandmother, and later, great grandmother to her sister Catheryne's son, Rodney, and his family.  Our lives are forever changed for the better because she was a part of it.  On this day, our family finds peace knowing that she is without a doubt reunited in Heaven.  She is surely sitting beside her big sister, who nicknamed her "Hannah", whispering, and laughing uncontrollably at an inside joke only they share. 

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Charlie Barnes; her nephew Rodney Vaughn. Sr.; great-nephews and nieces, Rodney Vaughn, Jr., and Chris and Maria (Vaughn) Cook; great-great niece and nephew, Ryan and Katie Cook; her Barnes family, whom she adored, and close family friend, Emily C. Gross. 

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 in Hillcrest Chapel with Reverend Jack Couch of Lovejoy United Methodist Church, and Pastor Terry Calhoun of Living By Faith Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
