Mrs. Jannie Karen Whitten, 77, of Newnan, widow of the late John Harold Whitten, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born April 18, 1945, in Seattle, Washington, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Schloemer and the late Lucy Thompson Schloemer. Jannie was a member of Community Christian Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and calling family to check up on them. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Lightcap; brothers, John Schloemer, and Landford Schloemer; and a grandson, David Watson.
Survivors include her sons; Harold Whitten, Donald Whitten, and Ronald Whitten, all of Newnan; daughters, Regina Watson, and Lucy Whitten, also of Newnan; brother, Kenneth Schloemer of Heard County; grandchildren, Tim Kirkpatrick, John Whitten, Mack Murphy, Eugene Murphy, Brandon Murphy, Karen Gresham, Tiffany Lightcap, Michael Lightcap, Thomas Lightcap, and Edwin Whitten; great-grandchildren, Macy Sue Kirkpatrick, Ashley Whitten, Makenzie Whitten, Ellie Whitten, Lily Newman, and several others.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Steve Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
