Battalion Chief James “J.B.” Guiler, 55, of Newnan, died Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Station No. 1 of the Heard County Fire Department.
Born August 11, 1966, in Cambridge, Ohio, he was a son of the late James M. Guiler, and the late Phyllis Hartman Blue. J. B. was a paramedic and Battalion Chief with the Heard County Fire Department for over 11 years and had previously served as a Fire Fighter with the Coweta County Fire Department. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren, he also loved serving the community and was a mentor to many of his fellow first responders. J. B. also loved cars and could fix anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen Nicole Guiler.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Kay Guiler; his son, Austin Guiler (Jessica) of Newnan; daughters, Lacey Deleon (Dimas) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Katie Brown (Chris) of Newnan; brothers, Larry Railey and Mark Railey, both of Newnan; sister, Deborah Guiler Prather (Steve) of Senoia; grandchildren, Noah Deleon, Abel Deleon, Antonio Deleon, Makynleigh Brown, and Kelsey Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Frank Powers and Pastor Danny Spencer officiating. Interment, with Fire Department Honors, will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
