James Burton Rice, 87, of Carrollton, formerly of Douglasville, died Saturday, September 28, 2024, at his residence.
Born March 17, 1937, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Earl Rice and the late Bernice Sutton Rice. Mr. Rice retired from the Douglas County School System after 17 years of service as a bus driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. He loved to read and enjoyed western books and movies. Mr. Rice loved spending time with his family and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ditzenberg.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Rose M. Rice; sons, James Leland Rice (Deneice) of Douglasville, and Steven Eric Rice of Elizabethton, TN; daughter, Theresa Webber (Tammy) of Newnan; brothers and sisters, Donald Rice (Connie), Herman Rice, Sandy Reisinger, Leona Eichottz (Bob), and Earlene Wyant, all of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Brandon Rice (Heather), and Nicole Cook (Jake); great-grandchildren, Lorin, Sydney, Flint, Clark, and Aspen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
