Mrs. Helen Jean Hotard, 76, of Newnan, widow of the late Joseph C. Hotard, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at her residence.
Born April 1, 1947, in Miami, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Jack Dempsey Lauramore and the late Helen Koontz Lauramore. Jean and her late husband Joe owned and operated O’Callaghan Heating and Air for many years. Her passion for life was evident in the joy she found in simple pleasures, and she was an avid enthusiast of the "slots," often found brightening the casino floors with her infectious smile during trips with her sisters. Above all, Jean's heart belonged to her family. She was a pillar of strength and support, always there to lend a hand or a listening ear. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. She was a good friend and caretaker to many, touching lives with her generosity and compassion. Jean's capacity for love extended beyond her human connections. Her dog, Josie, was a constant companion and source of joy. Together, they shared a bond that exemplified Jean's caring spirit. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Patty Christian, and Judy Young.
Survivors include her daughters, Michelle Hotard, and Becky Roach (Dennis); her brother, Jack Dempsey Lauramore, II (Lynne); grandchildren, Allie Idol (Logan), Dylan Roach, Jordan Roach, Ashlyn Bartlett, and Kylee Roach; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Steven Roach officiating. Inurnment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
