Mr. Gerald Lee Olmstead, 79, of Newnan, widower of the late Evelyn Louise Turner Olmstead, died Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his residence.
Born June 15, 1941 in Newnan, he was a son of the late Thomas J. Olmstead and the late Mary Elizabeth Barentine Ward. Mr. Olmstead was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was retired from the James River Corporation. In addition to his parents and wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Peral and Martha Jean Olmstead Durrough; brothers, Thomas J., William Elmer (Lonky), Roy Edwin, and Bobby Eugene.
Survivors include his daughter, Valerie Olmstead Bennett-Miller; grandchildren, April Rubino and Tony Bennett; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rubino and Jonny Rubino; sons-in-law, Dannie Miller, and Dean Bennett.
Gerald’s wishes were to be cremated and have no services.
