Mr. George Arthur Verdon, 83, of Sharpsburg, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born July 8, 1939, in Manhattan, New York, he was a son of the late George A. Verdon and the late Helen Grove Verdon. Mr. Verdon was of the Catholic Faith and worked as an insurance adjuster for Mutual of Omaha for many years. He was a caring person, with a great sense of humor, who loved his children and spending time with family. Mr. Verdon enjoyed boating and spending time at his lake house. He also enjoyed attending concerts, raising guppies and working on stained glass projects. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Peggy Verdon.
Survivors include his daughters, Wendy Kellat (John) of Hogansville, and Tracy Gehl (Len) of Newnan; sons, Bill Verdon (Wendy) of Canton, and Chris Verdon (Ashley) of Sharpsburg; bonus children, Brian Pitzer (Christina) of Keensburg, IL, Deric Jones of Newnan, Cherea Dixon (Warren) of Fayetteville, and Amy Farris of Athens, TX; sisters, Janet Seavey (Dave) of Virginia, and Joan Lombardi of New Jersey; brother, Arthur Verdon (Pat) of New Jersey; grandchildren, Erin, Sara, Sean, Drew, Chase, Destin, Bailey, Ethan, Ian, Kelci, Nicole, Kiley, Caraline, Lauren, Greyson, Laine, Paige, Shelby, Brooke, Brylee, Mathew, Kelli, Isaac, and Elias; great-grandchildren, Lily-Ann, Aubree, Olyvia, Aiden, Owen, Emersyn, Lincoln, Jonas, Noah June, Jack, and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Paula Verdon, and a bonus child, Erica Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
