Reverend Fred Stretch, 82, of Newnan, died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his residence.
Born May 14, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Fred Bromley and the late Marian Teresa Eich Bromley. Mr. Stretch was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army and the United States Navy, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an ordained minister of the Gospel and had served as Pastor of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Sharpsburg and was currently attending Bethlehem Baptist Church. Reverend Stretch was a proud member of IBEW Local #613, and the American Legion. He enjoyed dancing and John Wayne movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Ann Stretch, his wife, Anne Stretch, two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include his son, Michael A. Stretch (Jackie); daughter, Roxanne E. Chapman (James); grandchildren, Jay Stretch, Tyler Stretch, Molly Stretch, Van Stretch, Jeffrey Michael Johnson, Dallas Johnson, Ryan Johnson, and Dalton Johnson; great-grandchildren, Miles Stretch, Ian Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, and Odin Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, with Military Honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Stan Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
