Edward Lamarr Norton

Edward L. Norton, age 71, was called home to Heaven on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, at his home in Newnan, GA, surrounded by his family. Eddie was born and raised in Newnan and was beloved in the community for sharing his God-given musical talents. He played guitar and sang since his childhood, always taking great pleasure in entertaining his family, friends, and community. Eddie was always grateful for the opportunity to take care of his family. He loved them deeply and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Norton and his son, Michael S. Norton. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Norton; mother, Barbara L. Norton; children, Lindsay Loftin and her husband Shane; Brittany Norton; Haley Somolinos and her husband Ken; and Austin Hennes. He is survived by five grandchildren, Braelynn and Lainey Norton; Griffin Somolinos; and Sian and Mia Loftin. Brother, Thomas L. Norton and his wife Jana. Nephews, Daniel Norton and his wife Ashely and daughter Kathryn; Jonathan Norton; Matthew Norton; and Spencer Jackson.

Eddie found comfort in singing the old gospel song, “I’m a Winner Either Way”, leading up to his last day on this side of Heaven.

“I’m a winner either way, if I go or if I stay

For I’ll still have my Jesus each passing day

I’ll have my healing here below, or life forever if I go

Oh praise the Lord, I’m a winner either way.”

Eddie will be laid to rest on Friday, November 19th, 2021, during a private family ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
