Mr. David H. Stamps, 83, of Tyrone, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Born April 6, 1938, in Moreland, he was a son of the late Claude Henry Stamps, and the late Inez Hyde Stamps. Mr. Stamps was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the federal government as an air traffic controller. He was the most patriotic person you could ever meet, and he enjoyed flying and all things aviation. He was a family man who was always quick with a joke and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Virginia Stamps; sons, Paul D. Stamps (Crystal) of Lake City, Florida, and Keith A. Stamps of Tyrone; sisters, Shirley Hunter of Moreland, and Harriett Bexley of Atlanta; brother, Bobby Stamps of Moreland; grandchildren, Stefanie Hess, Taylor Stamps, Ivy Stamps, Gage Stamps, Hope Stamps, and Amanda Stamps; and a great-granddaughter, Ariana Le Baron.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a simple graveside service for family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating.
