David Harley Huggins, 67, of Newnan, passed away peacefully at his home on February 25, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Born on August 26, 1956, in Newnan, Georgia, he was a son of the late Bobby Charles Huggins and the late Joyce Oliver Huggins. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, David served his country with honor and distinction. David’s faith was a cornerstone of his existence, and he would always say “I’m going to church today wherever God leads me; he liked to say he was a "Man on a Mission." David's passion for helping others was evident in his role as a volunteer with the Wilcox County Fire Department. A true hero in every sense of the word, he saved several lives, often risking his own in the process. Those who knew David will remember him as a family man with a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger, approaching every person with an open heart and a warm smile. He was the embodiment of the word "courageous," not only in the face of danger but also in his daily life, as he faced challenges with a positive spirit and a can-do attitude. His humor was a gift that he shared freely, bringing laughter and lightness to even the most difficult situations. Generosity was his nature; he gave of himself without expectation, always putting the needs of others before his own. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Jean Stephens and Kimberly Presley.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Teresa Huggins; children, Brandi Huggins Bays (Brandon), and Christopher R. Huggins; brothers, Richard Bryan Huggins (April Johnson), and Tim Davis (Jennifer); grandchildren, Isabel Bays, Liana Bays, and Judah Bays; nephews, Chris Johnson, Bryan Huggins, David Wright, and Robert Presley; and niece, Stephanie Beaver.
