Daniel Johnson Givens, 74 of Newnan, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 26, 1948, in Atlanta, to Lou and Jean Johnson Givens. He was one of three children. He grew up in the Druid Hills area and attended Druid Hills High School. Being an avid musician, he and his twin brother were members of a Folk Group, The Voyagers, in which he played guitar. He also played sports in high school. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, “Go DAWGS!”
He attended college and chose a career path in sales. He began his career as a chemical sales representative with Stephenson Chemical Company and completed his career with Univar Environmental Services.
As a husband, father, friend and man of God he touched many lives. A father of two girls, LeEllen DeVries and Deborah Givens as well as a Godly influence for others, Jeffrey Evans, Robin Wolfe, and China Williamson.
In 1980 he became involved in the local church. He served in the worship choir and sang with a Gospel group called the Bereans. He was lead singer for the group. As a current member of Crossroads Church he served in a variety of areas which included the Food Pantry and Re-New Thrift Store.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Roberta (Bertie) Givens; daughters, LeEllen DeVries (Darrin) and Deborah Givens; grandchildren, Caedmon DeVries, Liana DeVries, Raewynn DeVries and Freya DeVries; twin brother, Michael Givens (Lois) and sister, Julie Ann Goecke. He also has many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Hillcrest Chapel, with Pastor Ken Adams officiating. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to Belief in Motion at http://www.beliefinmotion.org
