Mr. Carl Knaebel, 97, of Newnan, widower of the late Betty Jane Knaebel, died Friday, May 14, 2021 at his residence.
Born June 7, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, he was one of 8 children born to the late Charles Knaebel and the late Catherine Lamson Knaebel. Carl was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp as a B-24 Pilot, stationed at Buckingham Field in England. He was a member of the Christian Businessmen’s Committee, and the American Legion. Carl was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hazel Park, Michigan where he served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon for many years and led services at the Pontiac Rescue Mission in Pontiac, Michigan, and the Missionary Worker’s Mission in Detroit. When he moved to Newnan, he became a member of Tri-County Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Marshall, and brothers and sisters, Margaret, Kay, Mary, George, Tom, and Dorothy.
Survivors include his son, Reverend Garry Knaebel (Carole) of Hagerstown, MD; daughter, Carol Marshall (Ty) of Newnan; brother, John Knaebel of Michigan; grandchildren, Christopher Knaebel, Bethany Howarth, Kimberly Reed, Christi Hill, Peter Marshall, Dawn Eckhoff, Janelle Marshall, John Marshall, Timothy Marshall, and Benjamin Marshall; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
