Betty Knaebel Obituary

Mrs. Betty Jane Commerson Knaebel, 95, of Newnan, formerly of Royal Oak, Michigan, died Friday, January 29, 2021 at her residence.

Born April 28, 1925 in Detroit, she was a daughter of the late August Commerson and the late Easter Lily Warden Commerson.  Mrs. Knaebel was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Birmingham, Michigan, where she was very involved in church activities.  She served as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered her time working at the Pontiac City Rescue Mission and the Missionary Workers Rescue Mission.  In Newnan, she was a member of Tri-County Baptist Church.  Mrs. Knaebel enjoyed gardening, shopping, and travel, especially to the beach.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Commerson, and a granddaughter, Tiffany Marshall.

Survivors include her husband of over 76 years, Carl Knaebel; son, Reverend Garry Knaebel (Carole) of Hagerstown, MD; daughter, Carol Marshall (Ty) of Newnan; grandchildren, Christopher Knaebel, Bethany Howarth, Kimberly Reed, Christi Hill, Peter Marshall, Dawn Eckhoff, Janelle Marshall, John Marshall, Timothy Marshall, and Benjamin Marshall; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 in Hillcrest Chapel with Reverend Garry Knaebel officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Private interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. 

Out of concern for our family and friends during the current pandemic, the funeral service will be live streamed at www.hillcrestchapelcares.com and the family suggests that those who do choose to attend wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
