Mrs. Betty Bryant Blackmon,98, of Newnan, widow of the late Walter Conrad Blackmon, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City.
Born April 9, 1925, in Columbus, Georgia, she was a daughter of the William Wesley Bryant and the late Erma Sullivan Bryant. Betty dedicated many years of service to the State of Georgia before her well-deserved retirement. Outside of her professional life, Betty was an avid cook, delighting in the creation of delicious meals that brought people together. Her love for travel took her on many adventures, where she embraced new cultures and experiences with open arms. At home, she found comfort and companionship in her two beloved cats, Smokey, and Smut, who were her constant and affectionate companions.
Survivors include her nephews, Greg Bryant, and Glen Bryant (Linda); niece, Linda Annett; great-nieces and great-nephews, Christy Johnson (Chad), and William “Billy” Sims (Meda).
Services will be held at the graveside, in Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with Pastor Jerry Akin officiating.
