Wilma Grace
Martin
June 8, 1933 — May 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Wilma Grace Martin, born June 8,1933 in Adams County Iowa. She passed away peacefully May 8, 2026, in Newnan, GA at the age of 92. She was a woman of remarkable strength, compassion, and unwavering love, whose presence touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did, always offering guidance, support, and kindness. Wilma dedicated herself to nurturing those around her, creating a home filled with warmth and laughter.
Wilma went to nursing school in Wichita, KS, and trained as a registered nurse. She met her husband, Jack, in Wichita and together they moved to Winfield, Kansas to begin their family. Early family years consisted of work at the local hospital, tending the family garden, camping, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. After moving the family to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wilma continued her work in psychiatric nursing while supporting the children’s various school and sporting activities. Family vacations included faraway places like Hawaii, Mexico, Disney World & Fiji. In their retirement years Jack and Wilma also visited New Zealand and Alaska. Throughout her life, Wilma was very active in her church and was comforted by reading scripture. Wilma also loved gardening. She always had something growing from vegetables, to flowers, to house plants. She loved red roses! Some of her other favorite things were country music, ice cream, and eating shrimp.
Wilma is survived by her loving children, Jean Hart, Jack and Jan Martin, Jayne Mills and Jim and Adria Martin. Her grandchildren, Adrianne Hart, Heather Hall, Jessica and Rich Moy, Jacquelyn and Joshua Wofford, Joel and Morgan Martin, Dylan Mills, Hannah Martin and Ella Martin. Her great grandchildren, Zachary Hart, Kameron Hall, Leo and Daphne Moy, Eleanor Wofford, Harper and Naomi Martin. Along with many family and friends who will cherish her memory forever. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the values she instilled and the love she shared. We are grateful for the time we had with her and will hold her in our hearts always.
Wilma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack R. Martin Sr. in 2018. Also by her parents Thomas and Grace Preston, and her siblings Evelyn Ruth Rex, Marie Sleep, Russell Preston, Glen Preston, and Robert Preston.
