Wilma Jean
(Caldwell) Brown
February 2, 1938 – August 4, 2024
Wilma Jean Brown, 86, of Newnan, widow of the late Stanley Elijah Brown, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born February 2, 1938, in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Caldwell and the late Eva Maude Bishop Caldwell. A longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Wilma's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She served her church community with unwavering dedication, embodying the principles of kindness and charity in every aspect of her life. Wilma's passions painted a picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid reader and watcher of Western books and movies, finding solace and excitement in tales of frontier bravery and adventure. Her love for flowers was evident in the vibrant garden she meticulously tended, a riot of color that brought beauty to her home. Family was the heart of Wilma's world. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, and her legacy of love is a treasure that they will carry forward. Her affection extended to all creatures great and small, with a particular fondness for hummingbirds and animals, which she cared for with tenderness and joy. In addition to her husband and parents, Wilma was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Brown Futral; sisters, Katie Phillips, and Doris Turnipseed; and a brother, Danny Caldwell. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Marcia Brown; grandchildren, Stan Brown (Jennifer), Kimberly Ellsworth (Michael), and Tony Futral; great-grandchildren, Caleb Brown, Maddie Ellsworth, Drew Ellsworth, Micah Brown, and Alexis Futral; and a great-great-granddaughter, Parker Jean Bochy.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Mike White and Pastor David Arrington officiating.
