William Jerry Mayo, known as Jerry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Southwest Christian Care in Union City.

Born on November 27, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jerry was one of eight children born to the late Lenwood Mayo and the late Maebell Carter Mayo. Jerry was a follower of Jesus Christ and because of his faith was a beacon of generosity and creativity, traits that would define him as much as his sharp intellect. His passion for innovation was evident in the several patents he contributed to. Jerry's entrepreneurial ventures were numerous, and through them, he demonstrated his versatility and skill as a true jack of all trades. Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adored grandfather. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his grandchildren. Hardworking to his core, Jerry never shied away from a challenge. His work ethic was unparalleled, and it served as an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Jerry' loved the mountains, fishing, camping and water skiing, it was a reflection of his appreciation for life's simple pleasures and his ability to find peace and joy in nature's beauty. As we remember William Jerry Mayo, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. His faith and generosity touched the lives of many, his intelligence sparked innovation, and his creativity brought beauty into the world. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Arnold, and brothers, Joey Mayo, Bobby Mayo, and Charles Mayo.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sandra L. Mayo; his son, Michael Jerry Mayo (Jennifer); brother, Tommy Mayo; sisters, Linda Davis, and Connie Eanes; and grandchildren, Caleb Michael Mayo (Winter Grace), and Gabriel Michael Mayo.
