William Marvin Griggers, Sr., 96, of Newnan, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at his residence.
Born January 14, 1928, in Manchester, to the late Benjamin Griggers and the late Gladys Davison Griggers. He was a devout Christian, a veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II and the Korean War, and a member of the VFW. He had a career in education and taught in multiple school systems in the state of Georgia. He retired as an administrator with the Fulton County school system. He will be remembered as an active member of his church and community, dedicating his time even in retirement working on behalf of both veterans and non-veterans alike. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jolynn Perkins Griggers.
Survivors include his son, William Marvin Griggers, Jr. (Jeanne); grandchildren, Ben Griggers (Kristen) and Clint Pritchett; great grandchild, Hudson Griggers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the graveside of Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn with Pastor Patrick Perkins officiating and military honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until. 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Towers to Tunnels Foundation .
