Obituary

Mr. William Ray "Bo" Olmstead, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Thomaston, Georgia. Born on Christmas Day in 1948 in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Charles Jefferson Olmstead and the late Lillian Florence Dedmon Olmstead. Bo's life was a testament to his enduring love for his family, his country, and his community.

Bo attended Western High School in Newnan, where he began to shape a life marked by dedication and service. He proudly served his nation as a member of the US Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of SGT E5 and served as a Military Police officer. His commitment to excellence was recognized with several commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and an Era Certificate of Honor. After his military service, Bo continued to honor his fellow veterans by being a dedicated donor to the Wounded Warrior Project.

For over three decades, Bo made his living as a first pressman with James River/Graphic Packaging. His leadership skills shone through as he took on the role of union officer, advocating for his colleagues with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. Before retiring, he also shared his expertise as a service technician for five years, at Cliff's Fire Extinguisher, displaying a work ethic that inspired all who knew him.

Bo's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his existence. He was an active member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Senoia, where he found strength and community. His faith was evident in the way he lived his life, with kindness and thoughtfulness that touched everyone he met.

A man of diverse interests, Bo was particularly passionate about music from the 1960s. His knowledge of the era's tunes was both impressive and infectious. He was also an avid fisherman, finding joy and tranquility in the quiet moments by the water. A dedicated fan of the Miami Dolphins, Bo never wavered in his support for his team, showcasing his loyalty and optimism.

Above all, Bo was a family man. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, Regina Davis Olmstead. His legacy lives on through his daughters, Stacy Renee Baggett (Alex), Jennifer Lynn Chandler (Chris), and Victoria Denise Rhodes (Nick), as well as his adored grandchildren, Rachel and Caroline Chandler. His brothers, Wayne and Ronald Olmstead, will fondly remember Bo for his intelligence, his loving nature, and the thoughtful guidance he provided.
