Obituary

William Garst "Billy" Chapman, 52, of Bowdon, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Born on January 26, 1974, in Newnan, he was a son of the late Willie Frank Chapman and the late Ivalene Richardson Chapman. A graduate of Newnan High School, Billy was known to everyone as a very loving person who never met a stranger, and his friendly nature and genuine smile welcomed people into his life. Billy's simple pleasures reflected a deep appreciation for life's moments. He loved to sit quietly on the porch, soaking in the gentle rhythms of the world around him, a space where he found peace and connection. His fondness for spending time at the County Training Center was more than just a pastime; it was a place where friendships bloomed and memories were made. Equally, Billy delighted in gathering around the table with family to eat and share meals, savoring not just the food but the laughter and love that accompanied those times together. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy William "Billy" Chapman leaves behind is one of heartfelt warmth, kindness, and love, reminding us all to be more compassionate and to cherish each moment spent with those we hold dear.

Survivors include his uncles, Huel Chatman (Lucille), and William Thomas Chatman (Cathy); cousins, Cindy Stephens (Johnnie), Christie Haehnlein (Tim), Angie Esparza (Roy), Aaron Chatman (Katie), Adam Chatman, Mandy Morton (Donnie), Mark Rosenthal, Matt Rosenthal (Melanie), and Jimmy Chatman Jr (Jennifer); and numerous other cousins, family members, and friends.
