Mr. William Johnus Baxter, 81, of Newnan, died Thursday, August 12, 2021, at West GA Hospice in LaGrange.

Born November 24, 1939, in Dallas, GA son of the late Maggie Cole Baxter and the late Richard Franklin Baxter. He was a veteran the US Army and Us Navy and a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Christine Hudson Baxter; son, Randy William Baxter; sisters, Malene Green and Judy Evans; and brothers, J. H. Baxter and Richard Baxter.

Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Eugene Baxter, Sr. (Kathy) and Mickel Lamar Baxter (Melisa Ann Jackson); grandchildren, Michael Christopher Baxter, Lisa Marie Baxter, Leslie Paige Baxter, Jimmy Eugene Baxter, Jr., Travis Brown, Cody Jackson and Mitchell Cole; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Tony Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
