Mr. William John Amelse, 93, of Newnan, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his residence.

Born February 4, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late William Peter Amelse and the late Marie Van Dyke Amelse. Mr. Amelse was of the Catholic Faith and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed running and gardening and loved spending time at the beach. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jean Watson.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Joanne C. Amelse; daughters, Susan Marie Raines, Linda Ann Matyas, and Patricia Ann Jenkins; son, Michael John Amelse; brothers, Robert Amelse, and Donald Amelse; sister, Marie Story; grandchildren, Lucas William, Dylan Conant, Paige Marie, Lillian Helen, Michael, Tessa, Stephen, Haley, Hannah, Brianna, Jacob, and Jesse; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private service.
