Virginia Leigh
(Way) Bauter
October 8, 1930 – August 10, 2021
Virginia L. "Ginny" Bauter of Newnan, GA passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Born October 8, 1930, in Surprise, NE, she was 90.
Ginny and her family relocated from Nebraska to California when she was a young girl, settling in Lakewood - a small community outside of Long Beach. There she completed her education and began working in the financial industry. She also met and married her high school sweetheart, Bob, started a family and they began an adventure of a lifetime. Bob's work moved the family to many cities in the Western U.S., so Ginny set aside her career and dove into the role of "Mom Extraordinaire", volunteering at the children's schools, as a PTA officer and leading a Blue Bird troop. She was very active at church as a member of the choir, teaching Sunday school and organizing various church events. Ginny was active in the Lake Oswego Garden Club, Bridge Club and took upholstery classes. In the late 1960's the family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where Ginny picked up her financial career once again. She rose to the title of Vice President for Fidelity Savings and Loan. Later, Ginny branched out into real estate appraisal and then ultimately became a realtor for Cornish and Carey – a real estate company that served all of the San Francisco Bay Area. Ginny always found time to do her part by volunteering at Mills Hospital. She took up golf and became a member of the Northern California Golf Association. She and the family also enjoyed time spent at their home at Donner Lake in the Lake Tahoe area. While she wasn't a huge fan of boating, she did enjoy entertaining at the lake and watching all the activity on the water from her deck. Ginny traveled to many places around the world including Hong Kong, Switzerland, and Germany, but one of her favorite places was Maui Hawaii where she went multiple times a year and will be truly missed by her many friends there. Ginny was always very caring and compassionate. In her later years, and even as Alzheimer's took a firm grip on her memory, she always had the kindest words for her family and her beloved caregivers. She was the wise and wonderful matriarch of our family and the glue that kept us all together. The memory of her dry wit and positive attitude will always keep us going. Ginny is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Theodore.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Leigh Sisk, her oldest son Robert Theodore Bauter Jr. and his wife Maria, and her youngest son, Brian Andrew Bauter and his wife Lynn. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amanda Hager, her husband Greg and their daughter Ann Malone, Adam DeMartini, his wife Krista and their children Addison, Kaelyn and Nathan, Jennifer Davis and her daughter Charlotte, Kyle Bauter, his wife Courtney and children Bailey, Brody and Charsi and Jacob Bauter, his wife Brittany and their children Brayden, Dallas, and Devyn.
The funeral will be held at Sky Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier CA on Monday, August 30 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Mrs. Bauter.
