Thomas Jackson Scott, Sr., known affectionately as TJ to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 92, in Newnan, Georgia.

Born on January 30, 1933, in Tate, Georgia, he was a son of the late Emory Winfield Scott and the late Augusta Emiline Jones Scott. TJ proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. His dedication to duty was a testament to his character and set the stage for a life of service and commitment. After his military service, TJ embarked on a successful career with General Motors, where he dedicated 32 years before retiring. Beyond his professional life, TJ was a patient man who cherished his family above all else. He was deeply devoted to his wife, and together they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. His passion for working on cars was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with friends and family. TJ's love for animals was evident to anyone who knew him, as he always had a soft spot for dogs and cats. TJ's legacy is one of quiet strength, patience, and love. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelle "Lori" Heath.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Donna June Plant Scott; daughters, Tammy Scott Lee (Jeff), and Darlene Yother (Jimmy); son, Thomas J. Scott, Jr. (Paula); grandchildren, Ryan Gates (Megan), Thomas J. Scott, III (Jennifer), Erin Barrett (Andy), Mitzy Mills (Jamie), and Miranda Lancaster (Anthony); and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, May 24, 2025, immediately following a visitation at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Greg Morris will officiate the service. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception, following the funeral service, at the home of Pat & Lamar Lee, 1407 Sharpsburg McCollum Road, Sharpsburg, GA 30277.

The staff of Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home will have the honor of serving as Pallbearers.
