Obituary

Mrs. Tessie Mae Parker Cook, 96, of Newnan, widow of the late Thomas Cook, died Friday, February 21, 2020 at Southland Health and Rehabilitation in Peachtree City.

Born August 26, 1923 in Ephesus, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late George W. Parker and the late Eula Mae Maddox Parker.  Mrs. Cook was a member of Royal Baptist Church where she attended the Sunshine Ladies Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing, and gardening.  She also loved to cook and was known for making the best biscuits and fried chicken.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dale Norton, and siblings, Bud Parker, Q Parker, Leigh Gaines, Ruby Smith, Mattie Parker, and Luther Parker.

Survivors include her son, Scotty Norton (Cindy) of Newnan; daughter, Robin Daniel, also of Newnan; grandchildren, Michael Norton (Mary), Shelby Harris (Carl), and Leigh Maxwell (Jimmy); great-grandchildren, Hailey Norton, Wesley Anne Norton, Apollo Maxwell, and Jackson Harris; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. Paul Dennis officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
