Mr. Roger Dean Stone, 71, of Greenville, widower of the late Betty Jean Holland Stone, died on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the home of his niece, in Newnan.

Born October 5, 1950, in Albertville, Alabama, he was a son of the late William V. Stone, and the late Desma Elois Dean Winkles. Mr. Stone was of the Baptist Faith and was a veteran of both the United States Marine Corp and the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and receiving a Purple Heart. Mr. Stone enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son.

Survivors include his sister, Helen Crawford of Franklin; brother, Lucius Barry Chase of Newnan; nieces, Shelly Gomez, Sarah Elizabeth Cargle, Rebecca Dean Thacker, Christie Joann Barnett; Kim Cochran, Amanda Jones, Alisha Chase, and Joseph Chase; numerous great-nieces and great nephews; and his best friend, Rick Owens of Greenville.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, one hour prior to the service.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bubba Morgan, Zach Morgan, Jany-Miklo Gomez, Joseph Williford, Rick Owens, and David Keith.
