Richard Scott Lawrence, 60, of Franklin, known as Scott to his family and friends, passed away on May 17, 2026, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born on April 1, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was a son of Robert Kenneth Lawrence and the late Rebecca Joyce Haney Lawrence. From an early age, Scott was known for his hard work and determination, qualities that shaped both his professional and personal life. He served as a supervisor at Lowes, where his leadership and hands-on approach earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Beyond his role at Lowes, Scott’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to run his own Handyman business, offering his skills and talents to help others in the community. Above all, Scott cherished his family deeply. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was the cornerstone of his existence. A man who always put the needs of his family first and found joy in caring for them. In the quieter moments, Scott found solace in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing. These interests gave him a chance to connect with nature and reflect, a quiet balance to the busy life he led.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Melanie Eskew Lawrence; sons, David Lawrence, James Dylan Lawrence, and Jeffery Lawrence; daughters, Chelsea New, Angel Joyce Starr Swensen, Catherine Michelle Hesse, and Casey Taylor Hesse; and grandchildren, Kayleigh New, Kensley New, Mikey Dubose, and Rainie Dubose.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor David Arrington officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
