Obituary

Reverend William Edward "Bill" Johnson, 88, of Newnan, died Monday July 27, 2020 at his residence.

Born March 3, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama, he was son of the late William Joseph Johnson and the late Ora Lucille Jackson Johnson.  Reverend Johnson was a member of Go Church, formerly South Metro Ministries Church of God, and had served as a Pastor with the Southern Baptist Convention from 1970 to 1981.  He also retired as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.  Bill was a good father and a truly kind and gentle man.  He had a huge heart and a love for mankind and helping others.  He was a strong Christian influence on his family and friends and was always striving to grow in the Spirit.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Roma B. Johnson; son, Allen Johnson (Linda) of Aurora, CO; daughters, Belinda Spain (Reverend Don Spain) of McDonough, and Lisa Skaggs (Michael) of Newnan; grandchildren, Jenny McNairy, Joe Johnson, Tiffany Widener, Erin Skaggs, and Kristen Skaggs; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Eli Spain, Alexandria Fields, Stephen Fields, and Israel Fields.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 in Hillcrest Chapel.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens in Fairburn.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
