Raymond
Phelps, Sr.
October 17, 1953 — October 8, 2026
Senoia
Raymond Phelps, Sr., 72, of Senoia, passed away on October 8, 2026, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born on October 17, 1953, in Griffin, he was a son of the late Thomas Morris Phelps and the late Doris Lee Manly Phelps. He will be remembered as a man whose kindness, warmth, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Raymond was someone who truly never met a stranger. He had a welcoming way about him and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, and his willingness to help others. He was gifted with mechanical skill and could fix or work on just about anything, a talent that spoke to both his resourcefulness and his determination. He found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Raymond enjoyed golf, and he especially loved vacationing in the mountains, with Pigeon Forge holding a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing Trike on the Dragon Trail, making memories along the way in places he loved. At home, he took delight in feeding the animals around him, especially the squirrels, chipmunks, and crows that became part of his daily routine. Above all, Raymond loved spending time with his family. That love was at the center of his life, and it was in those moments together that his care, devotion, and gentle heart were most deeply felt.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Teresa Phelps; sons, Ray Phelps (Analisa), and Thomas Phelps (Brandy); daughter, Kristy Phelps; brothers, Daniel Phelps (Karen), and Lawrence Smith; sisters, Joy Smith, Linda Gabbard, and Judith Phelps; grandchildren, Scott Phelps, Ryan Phelps, Jonathon Phelps, Skylar Phelps, Delilah Phelps, Lindsay Phelps, Madison Campbell, Cheyenne Phelps, Ethan Phelps, and Emma Phelps; great-grandchildren, Bentley Phelps, Blade Phelps, and Aravis Phelps; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
