Ramon "Ray"
Kevin Hice
August 26, 1955 – October 7, 2024
Ramon Kevin Hice, known affectionately as Ray by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, in Newnan, Georgia.
Born on August 26, 1955, in Pensacola, Florida, he was a son of the late James Robert Hice, Sr., and the late Eva Hilary Wheat Hice. Ray's academic journey culminated in earning a master's degree, a testament to his commitment to education and personal growth. He honorably served as a Captain in the United States Air Force during pivotal moments in history, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After his military service, Ray continued to serve others in a different capacity, as a nurse anesthetist. His gentle demeanor and skilled hands brought comfort and care to countless patients. A communicant of St. George Catholic Church, Ray's faith was a cornerstone of his life. Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Ray was a true family man. His greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones, creating memories that would be cherished forever. An avid fisherman, he found solace in the tranquility of nature. Music also held a special place in Ray's heart, providing a soundtrack to many of the family's gatherings and milestones. Ray was a master craftsman who took great pleasure in woodworking. The pieces he created were not only beautiful but also imbued with the love and care he put into every project. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tim Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lyn Hice; his children, Rachel Stevenson, Joshua Hice (Kim), Tanner Hice (Lauren), and Casey Hice; grandchildren, Luke Hice, Cole Stevenson, Zach Stevenson (Taylor), Hank Hice, Joah Hice, Shiloh Hice, Eva Hice, Levi Hice, Miley Stevenson, and Charley Hice; siblings, Bob Hice (Becky), Laraine Beecher (Rick), and Sue Boyington (Eddie); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, co-workers, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted, and the family suggests that those who wish, make donations to the City of Hope Cancer Center at https://www.cityofhope.org/giving/give-honor-or-memory in memory of Ray.
