Mrs. Mary "Rachel" Chadwick Hawkins, 97, of Griffin, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born August 24, 1924, in Cherokee County, to the late David Alfred Chadwick and the late Anna Lee Shirley Chadwick. She has been a resident of Griffin for over 70 plus years and retired from Highland Textile Mills. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Deward Belmond Hawkins; sons, Deward Lee Hawkins and Mac Hawkins.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Haynes and Jean Hawkins; sister, Bettie Mays; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, in the mausoleum chapel of Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton with Pastor Mark Brumbalow and Roger Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour Friday, March 18, 2022, in the mausoleum chapel of the cemetery.

The family would like to thank special angels, Cristy, Rita, Lin, Barbara Ann and Bettie for the care given to Rachel and the family during this difficult time.
