Obituary

Matthew David Martin, age 57, of Newnan, Georgia, went home to the be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. Born in Newnan, Georgia on June 10, 1967, he lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service.

Matthew was the beloved son of Shirley Neill Martin and the late Preston Junior Martin Jr. He is survived by his beloved mother Shirley Martin Long and stepfather Gary Long, loving wife, Anastasia Lambert Martin, cherished daughter, Ashley Howe, his stepson Carson Lester, and his two grandsons, Hunter David Reese and Hayden Howe.

A dedicated servant of Christ, Matthew spent most of his adult life ministering to others. He served as a pastor in many different settings, including correctional facilities and a variety of churches, always guided by a deep compassion for others and a commitment to spreading God's love. His home church, Sunnyside Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia, was a spiritual anchor and place of great joy for him.

Matthew was known for his warm heart, sense of humor, and unwavering faith. He found peace and happiness on the beaches of St. Augustine, Florida, and St. Thomas, USVI, where he spent many cherished vacations with family and friends. He also had a passion for playing Cornhole, a game he enjoyed with laughter and fellowship.

His legacy is one of kindness, humility, and an enduring dedication to his faith and loved ones. Matthew will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
