Mrs. Mary Nell Harrison Thomas, 87, of Palmetto, widow of the late William Steve Thomas, died Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Born September 15, 1933, in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late Grady Harrison and the late Nellie Chapman Harrison.  Mrs. Thomas was a member of Welcome Road Baptist Church and was retired from JC Penny and Wal-Mart.  She was the matriarch of her family and a Godly woman who loved going to Church and reading her Bible.  Mrs. Thomas was an avid Braves fan and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved going out to eat.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Wilbur Steve Thomas and Darrell Eric Thomas, and a granddaughter, Nicole Turner.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Thomas of Jackson, GA; daughter, Margie Turner of Palmetto; grandchildren, Melissa, Kim, Buford, Lynn, Shelly, Travis, Tara, Eric, Chad, DJ, Nicholas, Christopher, Trish, Robert, Michael, and Tracy; 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, in Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Dan Odum officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
