Marilyn Ann Garrett, 88, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Born on August 16, 1937, in Mount Vernon, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Fred Hutchison and the late Catherine Phiester Hutchison. Marilyn was a devout catholic and a member of St. George Catholic Church. Throughout her 88 years, Marilyn was a woman whose kindness and quiet joys touched all who knew her. She had an enduring passion for crocheting, spending countless hours creating beautiful gifts and treasured keepsakes for those she loved. The warmth of her kitchen was well known among family and friends, as she was devoted to cooking and baking, always eager to share a delicious meal or treat. Marilyn also delighted in the simple pleasures of life, never turning down a scoop of ice cream or a refreshing Dr. Pepper. During quieter moments, she found enjoyment in word find puzzles, a pastime that reflected her sharp mind and love for gentle challenges. Marilyn's presence will be sorely missed. Her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her hobbies, and love for the little things created a legacy of joy, comfort, and cherished memories. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Hutchison, and a sister, Elizabeth Jane Yoos.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Halden Garrett; son, Brian Joe Garrett (Cara Marie); sister, Helen Charlene Lane; grandchildren, Ashlyn Garrett-Starnes (Jacob), and Aaron Garrett (Holly); and great-grandchildren, Jackson Garrett, Dakota Garrett, and Wyatt Garrett.
The family will hold a private graveside memorial service in Indiana at a later date.
