Obituary

Luther Alton Pattillo, III, known affectionately as Rusty to his friends and family, passed away suddenly on August 10, 2025, on his 56th birthday, in Williamson, Georgia.

Born August 10, 1969, in Opelika, Alabama, Rusty was a man whose laughter and generosity enriched the lives of all who knew him. Rusty dedicated many years of his life to his work as a skilled machinist at Tencarva Machinery Company in Macon, where his precision and attention to detail were greatly valued. Outside of work, Rusty's passions were as vibrant and varied as his personality. He was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. An enthusiast of the outdoors, Rusty found solace and joy in boating and tending to his yard, taking pride in his well-manicured lawn. His interest in cars was more than a hobby; it was a passion that saw him frequenting car shows. Rusty's sense of humor was legendary, and his reputation as a prankster was well-earned. Generosity was second nature to Rusty; he was the kind of man who would offer the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His selflessness and willingness to help others were traits that defined him. An undisputed BBQ master, Rusty's grilling skills were the highlight of many family gatherings and neighborhood cookouts. His perfectly smoked meats were the centerpiece of many memorable occasions. Rusty's life was a testament to the values of love, humor, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Jones Pattillo.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Pam Pattillo; children, Kevin Hobbs (Emily), and Michelle Hobbs (Riley); his father and stepmother, Al and Sue Pattillo; sister, Maria Pattillo Traylor; grandchildren, Jackson, Julia, and Josephine; a grand-pup, Audi; nephews, Brenton, Justin, and Noah; and several great-nieces & great-nephews, cousins, and other family members.
