Louis Thomas
Bavaro
February 28, 1942 – December 17, 2024
Louis Thomas Bavaro, 82, of Newnan, died on December 17, 2024, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born on February 28, 1942, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, he was a son of the late Gaetano Bavaro and the late Jenny Palmiotto Bavaro. Louis spent many years behind the wheel as a proud truck driver, a career that was not just a job but a calling. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his loyalty to the Teamsters Union, where he was a respected member. Louis's work ethic and camaraderie with his fellow union members were a testament to his character and the respect he earned from his peers. Louis had an enduring love for classic cars, appreciating the craftsmanship and nostalgia they represented. His favorites were his 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix (Big Red), his 1967 Ford Thunderbird, and his 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, all of which he showed off with great pride. His enthusiasm for sports was unmistakable, especially when it came to cheering on his beloved Yankees. Above all, Louis cherished his family, who were the heart of his world. His love for them was unwavering, and he was a source of strength, comfort, and joy in their lives. Louie had a wonderful and wacky sense of humor that kept everyone smiling. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carol Bavaro; his children, Thomas B. Bavaro (Janet), and Christine Bonanno (Joseph); sister, Bernadette Smalls; and grandchildren, Rebecca Bonanno, James Bonanno, Jennifer Furfaro, and James Furfaro.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
