Obituary

Lois Agnes Maclay Lacy, of Fairburn and lately of Fayetteville, GA was born April 11, 1925, in Chambersburg, PA to John Mills Maclay and Gertrude Elizabeth Berger. She grew up in Jeanette, PA where her father was the high school principal for many years. She attended Catawba College where she met the love of her life, George C. Lacy, who was training to be a pilot for the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII. They married in 1944 after a brief courtship.

After WWII ended, George and Lois lived in Albany, GA and then the Atlanta area. George Lacy started Atlanta Cast Stone Co. in Fairburn, GA in 1958. Lois and George worked side by side in the company until they sold it in 1989.

In addition to working together, George and Lois were both private pilots and were well known around the south Atlanta area since their plane was based at Charlie Brown Field in Fulton County, then Peachtree City, and eventually Newnan. Lois also enjoyed taking dance lessons at the Doris Russell School of Dance and danced well into her 70s.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, John Mills and Gertrude Berger Maclay and by George, her loving husband of 61 years. She is survived by her daughter Lou Brackett, her son-in-law Robert, grandchildren Bonnie and Chris, along with Chris's wife Amanda and their daughter Bristol, Lois's one and only great-grandchild, of whom she was very proud.

Special thanks to the Somerby Assisted Living, Visiting Angels, and Southern Grace Hospice for taking good care of her.
