Obituary

Mr. Leroy Camp, 84, of Whitesburg, died on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Ansley Park Health and Rehabilitation.

Born August 27, 1940, in Haleyville, Alabama, he was a son of the late Oran S. Camp and the late Eula Chastain Camp. Mr. Camp was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was the owner and operator of Camp Electric for many years. Leroy enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Ward, and brothers, Travis Camp and Troy Camp.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rita Karen Roberts Camp; children, Lee Camp (Amanda) of Whitesburg, Mark Camp (Kristy), also of Whitesburg, and Chuck Camp (Amy) of Eatonton; sisters, Barbara Hawk of Villa Rica, Linda McEachern (Larry) of Griffin, and Gala Camp of Jasper, AL; grandchildren and their spouses, Jordan and B.T. Walters, Logan Camp and her fiancé, Coty Pressley, Jared Camp, Justin Camp, Shelley Camp, and Samantha Camp; foster brother, Harrell Moore of Peachtree City; and his beloved dog, Sadie.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
